The National Audit Office (NAO) is hiring Senior Audit Managers to lead high-impact work examining how government spends public money. Your work will directly inform Parliament, influence major national decisions, and help improve the delivery of public services across the UK.

You’ll lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver value for money (VFM) reports on complex government programmes — from major infrastructure projects to the use of data in tackling fraud and error. The role combines rigorous analysis with clear, accessible communication, ensuring findings drive real-world impact.

This role is particularly suited to professionals with backgrounds in:

• Public policy or government

• Evaluation and research (qualitative and quantitative)

• Audit, consulting, or advisory work in the public sector or charity sector

You’ll need strong analytical and communication skills, alongside experience leading projects and managing teams. The ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling outputs is essential.

Location: London (£74,500) or Newcastle (£67,000)
Working pattern: Hybrid (minimum 2 days in office)
