This event was full of ambitious young black students and graduates who engaged fully with the professionals who came to speak!
Keynote with Amani Terhas Boros
The Conference started with an inspiring keynote speech from Amani Terhas Boros, the MD and Head of Sustainability at State Street Bank International. She gave so many pieces of helpful advice, but here are my main takeaways:
It is so important to have a vision and not limit yourself.
Preparation and hard work are important and having mentors to aid you in this is invaluable.
Being able to bounce back from mistakes and setbacks is important to success.
It is your responsibility to own the relationship with your manager, and make sure you understand what their expectations are.
We should not be competing with one another as black women, there is space for all of us!

Application drafting workshop with Matthew Parker
This session was both engaging and practical - as Matthew covered key points for job applications:
Having a memorable elevator pitch.
Asking open-ended questions.
How to effectively structure a CV.
Networking Lunch & Speed Dating
In this session, we were treated to delicious food and wonderful conversation. Professionals from sectors such as Audit, Equity Research and Technology spoke to us. This meant that the attendees could learn about a wide range of possible careers in finance. The professionals were from sponsor firms such as EY and RBC. This was an amazing session as the professionals had great expertise and were open to any questions!

To end off the day - Graduate & Intern Black Women Panel
All the ladies on this panel had different career paths and experiences - which meant there was a wealth of information to tap into. My biggest takeaway from this session is the importance of research and being proactive - as this is what can set you apart. So many topics were covered in this panel session from networking advice to study abroad experiences!
A big thank you to the panellists who kindly stayed even after their session to speak to us! We are also grateful to RBC for hosting the event and for all the panelists, speakers and professionals who came to speak!
